Fletcher Jones Automotive Group is celebrating 75 years of service in the US covering Southern California, Northern California, Nevada, Illinois, and Hawaii; Thank you to all of our Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter, Audi and Porsche guests for being a part of our journey….  Read about our 75 years below! 

The Journey

It all started 75 years ago in 1946 when Fletcher Jones Senior met a man on a golf course who would forever change his destiny. Impressed by how successful the man had become by selling cars, the USC student decided to switch gears from being a law student to becoming an entrepreneur in the burgeoning automotive retail industry.

After gathering together $1,200 — a veritable fortune in those days — Jones Sr. opened a modest used car lot in downtown Los Angeles. Fun Fact: sold his first vehicle for $70.

Jones Sr. passed his legacy to Fletcher “Ted” Jones Jr., who worked in a wide array of entry-level positions, ranging from sweeping the facility’s floors and working in the parts department before advancing into sales and management positions. With his father’s guidance, Ted opened his own dealership in the city of Whittier where he sold Mazda vehicles. Within a few years, the decision to sell the fuel-efficient cars would prove fortuitous, as the oil-crisis loomed and Americans began exploring their options for more fuel-efficient vehicles.

In 1991, Fletcher “Ted” Jones Jr. purchases a bankrupt luxury auto dealership in Newport Beach, CA driven to make it the largest Mercedes-Benz center in the Nation. Spoiler Alert: Fletcher Jones Motorcars is The Nation’s #1 Mercedes-Benz Center for 22 consecutive years.

Presently operating 13 franchises of Premier Luxury Brands across the US, Representing the Nation’s #1 Audi and Mercedes-Benz dealerships, followed by the two fastest growing Mercedes-Benz and Audi recently built dealers, symbolizing the legacy of the Fletcher Jones Fine Family of Dealerships.

Our latest endeavors led us to building a new 42,000 square foot Indoor / Outdoor Sales & Showroom facility which we call the home of Audi Fletcher Jones in Costa Mesa, CA!

In 2018, Audi Service Center LA opened to care for Audi drivers in greater LA Market; following in the footsteps of our dedicated Elston Service Center which opened its doors in 2017 adding convenience and peace of mind to the Chicago Audi and Mercedes-Benz drivers.

In 2000, The Fletcher Jones Business Development Center opened as a Concierge Service to our guests! Currently with over 100 Team Members ready to serve your online orders, communications and telephone needs ranging from your vehicles service pick up & delivery, virtual test drives as well as the delivery of your new car to your doorstep, with a drive for excellence the Fletcher Jones way!
