Carl Benz is the founder of Mercedes-Benz, and his devotion to creating a high-speed and lightweight vehicle is what started it all. • 1885: Carl Benz developed the first stationary gasoline engine, which was a 1-cylinder 2-stroke engine. This engine was eventually developed to be a high-speed single-cylinder 4-stroke engine, which was used in the first Mercedes-Benz two-seater vehicle. This vehicle was known as the three-wheeled Benz Patent Motor Car, model no. 1.

• 1926: After years of innovation between Daimler Motorengesellschaft and Benz & Cie, both German companies decided to merge in 1926. This merger is the beginning of Daimler-Benz AG, which featured a headquarters located in Stuttgart, Germany.

• 1950s: Daimler-Benz became the industry leader in terms of manufacturing diesel engines. Their diesel engines were often sought after due to the high-level engineering that was offered.

• 1998: The official merger of Chrysler Corporation and Daimler-Benz AG was officially announced. This merger formed DaimlerChrysler AG and was intended to increase the long-term competitiveness of both companies with a major focus on advanced globalization.

• 2007: Mercedes-Benz aims to refocus on its luxury brand and was renamed from DaimlerChrysler AG to just Daimler AG.

• 2022 - Today: In 2022, Daimler AG is renamed to Mercedes-Benz Group AG and is fully focusing on luxury and performance brands that include Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG®, Mercedes-Maybach®, and more. Today, Mercedes-Benz Group AG is often regarded as the leader in luxury vehicles and features a wide range of electric vehicles, performance cars, and other passenger vehicles to help you upgrade your adventures.
